We Care Computers, Tech Tips and News, October, 2007

Happy Halloween from We Care ComputersWith Halloween just around the corner, the last thing you want your computer to do is play “Trick or Treat” with you!

In October’s “Tip of the Month”, we’ll be talking about how you can easily back up all of your important information, documents, family pics, kids’ school projects and legal records.

Plus thanks to many of our friends for stopping by at our booth at Simsbury’s Septemberfest, Avon Day, Hartford Women’s Expo, and the Small and Minority Business Convention. Please check at the end of this email to see if you’re one of the visitors who won some great prizes!

To all, a safe and fun-filled Halloween for you and your family, and, if somehow some “ghosts or goblins” have gotten into your computer system lately, just give us a call or email and we’ll get rid of them before the first Trick or Treater is at your door!

TIP OF THE MONTH: BACK UP YOUR COMPUTER

We Care Computers gets many calls each week from computer and small business owners who have, for any number of reasons, lost information when their laptops or computers “crashed”.

Spilled Diet Cokes, dropped laptops, power surges, and just plain old computer fatigue all play different roles in the demise of a computer.

The one universal claim we run into is that “no one thought it would happen to them!”

But it does. While we can certainly help to recover a lot of that data, it is often time consuming (and costly) to do so.

It’s a much better idea (and really critical for a small business or home computer user that relies on the information stored in their computers), to simply back up the data using an external hard drive that stores an exact copy of all the info on your computer.

It’s simple, and here’s how it works:

SELECT THE HARDWARE:Seagate 250 External Hardrive

An external Hard Drive works exactly like the hard drive in your laptop or computer. It stores all of your important files, documents, and programs on your laptop or desktop. WCC recommends and installs Western Digital and Seagate hard drives as we’ve found them to be very dependable. The external hard drive connects to your computer easily via a cable.

You just need to make sure (or we will) that the hard-drive is large enough to back up all of your computer or laptop’s information.

LOAD THE SOFTWARE:PC Backup Software is the best in the business
You should get software that automatically “backs-up” your computer to your hard-drive every day, once a week, or once a month (you choose how frequently the computer should back up your information). We Care Computers recommends the PC BACKUP by Stompsoft as the leading program for home and small business users.

Once the software is loaded and set correctly, you don’t have to do anything.

Your records and data are backed up, and if the computer crashes (or one of the computers in a home network) you can easily retrieve the information.

The whole process of backing up your data is not difficult, but if you’d like us to do it for you, here’s an opportunity to protect your data and save $ 100!
