 Laptop, Desktop, work, home, iPhone, Blackberry, smart phone, and even the local library. There are an unbelievable number of ways to access your email. But how do you remember which emails you've read and responded to as you switch devices? In this issue:

The bad news is a lot of "housekeeping" chores for your email inboxes on your phone, laptop, and desktop. Is there a better way to manage your email so that when you delete an email from your smart phone - it also gets deleted from your desktop and laptop? YES - you can do this by changing your email server from POP3 to IMAP. POP3, used by Outlook, Outlook Express, and many other email programs, connects to your mail server (usually maintained by your ISP - Internet Service Provider like comcast, aol, etc) and automatically downloads your emails from the server to your laptop or desktop computer. This means if you respond or delete a message on your laptop - it will still be on your desktop. And your phone.... IMAP also connects to your mail server via your phone, computer, laptop, etc. Any operation you do to your messages from any device synchronizes to your email server. For example, if you delete an email from your phone, it synchronizes the change so that when you go back to your computer, that message is deleted there as well. It looks and feels exactly like your current email settings - but when you respond, delete, or forward an email using any device - the next time you use a different device - you see the synchronized changes. So, remove the hassle of email housekeeping for multiple devices by switching to an IMAP server.
